Citizens Can Text Crime Tips to the PD
The Police Department has gone live with another technologically advanced tool to fight crime called TIP411. Tipsters can send messages anonymously by texting the code FPDTIP, plus their tip information, to TIP411 (847411). The messages are received in the 911 Center and Communications Officers will receive and disseminate the information, and they can also communicate with the tipster via the internet to get more information. It is our hope that TIP411 will encourage citizens to engage with police in solving problems in their communities, making TIP411 a fitting choice for our philosophy of community-based policing strategies.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff Office

Purpose:
The Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement services to the citizens of the County, serves civil papers, and protects and maintains the security of the courts operating within the County.
The areas of responsibility of the Sheriff include law enforcement through road patrols, undercover investigation and responding to citizen and business calls; serving of process papers; and court security and prisoner transport. The Sheriff also provides security as needed for Board of Supervisors meetings and special events, such as school athletic and social events.
In addition to vehicle patrol, the Sheriff maintains a limited bicycle patrol to enhance the patrol capabilities within shopping centers and subdivisions and during special events, a weekend boat patrol at Lake Anna during the summer months, and four School Resource Officers. The Sheriff also maintains a Neighborhood Watch Program with a lieutenant and a deputy, helping to develop and coordinate these programs to ensure a constructive impact on the community.
